About Triadic Dance Works

TDW is a collaborative dance collective based in Vancouver, Canada. Over the past two years, we have been commited to broadening the audience for contemporary dance by performing relevant, accessible works in both traditional and unusual settings. We have performed extensively in our hometown and neighboring cities such as Port Moody, Coquitlam, and Seattle, Washington, as well as in Berlin, Germany. We have danced at outdoor festivals, on lawns, in carports, at the Planetarium, and in cabarets. We have done full-bodied abstract works, performed as roving characters, and ventured into theatrical explorations. Interdisciplinary work has always been of interest to us; so far we have collaborated with composers to create original scores, visual artists to create dynamic settings, and filmmaKers to transpose our choreography to the screen.

Jenn Edwards is a contemporary dance artist based in Vancouver. Once a competitive figure skater, she now holds a BFA in dance from SFU's School for the Contemporary Arts. While at SFU she was immersed in Graham, Limon and Cunningham techniques, and had the pleasure of dancing in works by Judith Garay, Rob Kitsos, Mark Haim, Karen Jaimeson and Joe Laughlin. Other training highlights include a semester of West African dance and music at the University of Ghana, and a three-month intensive scholarship at EDAM, studying contact improvisation with Peter Bingham. In 2010, Edwards co-founded Triadic Dance Works, a collective that performs regularly in both traditional and unconventional settings. The blossoming company recently premiered their first full-length work, entitled Ceremonial Sketches, at the Scotiabank Dance Centre. Jenn has also performed with Diskordanse and Canada Ice Dance Theatre, as well as working with choreographers Kat Single-Dain, Justine Chambers and Natasha Lutz. Appearances in short films include Jason Karman's Square Dance Story and Darcy Van Poelgeest's Tunnel One. Her own choreography has been presented at Mascall Dance, The Cultch's Ignite Youth Festival, and 12 Minutes Max to name a few. Jenn is currently based in Berlin, where TDW will be premiering a new duet this fall in collaboration with musician Guido Henneboehl.
